When our clients and their young daughter moved into their new home, they brought two unique pieces of furniture that reflected their taste for Art Deco and mid-century Modern styles. Working these into the design scheme in terms of layout and colour and creating an ambiance of serenity were the requirements given at the beginning of the project..
____The colour palette consisted of soft warm greys and creams combined with dark wood to provide the serene ambiance, together with dashes of red and gold (taken from the existing furniture) found in the accessories only rugs and toss cushions. Curves, typical of the Art Deco period, are found in the shape of the sofa and chairs, the "ribbon" coffee table, and the mirror. (Detail 01)
____On the other side of the living room, the design details continue: the silk swirls in the beautiful wool rug, the curved legs of the occasional table, the contours of the table lamp. An empty corner becomes a conversation area during a cocktail party. (Detail 02)
____In contrast to the austerity of the dark wood dining room table and chairs, the wool area rug brings rich tones of gold and red into the space while the French organza chandelier delivers shimmering light. (Detail 03)
